Motorola implementa banda ancha inalámbrica en altamar para la plataforma de petróleo FPSO Sevan Piranema
Unidad operada por Petrobras en la costa de Sergipe usa tecnología de radio para la comunicación entre base y continente, a una distancia de 37 kilómetros
La empresa noruega de servicios marítimos Sevan Marine eligió la plataforma de radios de Motorola para la transmisión de datos, voz e imágenes en la FPSO Sevan Piranema, primera unidad cilíndrica de producción y almacenamiento de petróleo del mundo.
Construida para ser utilizada por Petrobras, la estación precisaba establecer la comunicación entre la base y el continente a fin de iniciar sus operaciones en el campo de Piranema, ubicado a 37 kilómetros de la costa de Aracaju.
Al tratarse de una plataforma flotante, instalada en una lámina de agua de más de mil metros en alta mar, Sevan Marine evaluó todos los obstáculos antes de elegir la mejor alternativa para la estructuración de su red de datos. La gran distancia entre la estación y la costa, la variación de altura por el flujo de producción de petróleo y, además, la inclinación provocada por las condiciones climáticas adversas llevaron a la empresa a optar por la conexión de mayor alcance, velocidad y confiabilidad ofrecida por las soluciones de interconexión punto-a-punto de Motorola.
Otro obstáculo fue el tiempo disponible para que la FPSO Sevan Piranema estableciera la comunicación con las demás unidades de trabajo. “El desafío era programar la infraestructura de comunicación en el plazo establecido, para que la plataforma pudiera comenzar a producir. No sería viable iniciar las operaciones sin la conexión con el proveedor de Internet y toda la red de datos de la compañía”, comentó Maxwell Ferreira, Coordinador de IT de Sevan Marine. Con el trabajo de la integradora Masterradius, responsable de toda la implementación y soporte de infraestructura, el proyecto fue concebido y entregado en tan sólo 15 días.
Finalizado en agosto de 2007, el diseño contó con la instalación de cuatro puntos de acceso Motorola, modelos PTP58400 Lite, 5700BC20RF, AP5750BC, SM5750BC y SM5750, para interconectar la plataforma en altamar con la torre de transmisión de Masterradius, ubicada en la capital de Sergipe. Desde la torre, las señales son replicadas al depósito de Piranema Serviços de Petróleo, en la ciudad de Barra dos Coqueiros, a 18 kilómetros, y a un edificio en Aracaju, a 8 kilómetros, que replica la transmisión a la oficina de la empresa y a la compañía proveedora de Internet.
La red de datos implementada en la plataforma ofrece a los empleados conexión a Internet, servicios de telefonía, videoconferencia, suministro de datos y acceso a los principales sistemas de administración de la estación. “Con la comunicación establecida, también es posible contar con programas esenciales, tales como el de mantenimiento de activos, sistema de automatización para accionamiento de válvulas y el de monitoreo de generadores y turbinas, los cuales son proporcionados por los fabricantes en forma remota”, destacó Ferreira. Además, todo el proceso de actualización de dichos sistemas se realiza automáticamente vía link, sin la necesidad de configuraciones manuales.
Según Joeval Martins, Gerente de la división Gobierno & Empresas de Motorola Brasil, el proyecto desarrollado para la FPSO Sevan Piranema demuestra la madurez que ha alcanzado la comunicación corporativa, independientemente del segmento. “La información debe estar disponible y entregarse dondequiera que estén los negocios y los usuarios, ya sea en altamar o en tierra. La solución de banda ancha inalámbrica de Motorola mejorará la expansión de las operaciones de la plataforma, lo cual, a su vez, contribuirá al desarrollo del país”, resaltó Martins.
Para Arlisson Souza, Gerente de IT de Masterradius, el proyecto en la FPSO Sevan Piranema fue el más desafiante hasta la actualidad. “Debido a las adversidades del enlace, hasta hoy ninguna tecnología había logrado realizar el link con la plataforma. La situación fue resuelta, sorprendiendo a todos por el rendimiento de las soluciones inalámbricas de Motorola y por el soporte técnico local especializado”, concluyó Souza.
