El computador del presente ya se carga sin cables
Fuera cables. En la era del wifi y del Bluetooth, el fabricante estadounidense Dell ha dado un paso más en la liberación de las computadoras: el nuevo portátil Latitude Z recarga su batería sin cables.
Junto al computador se vende una base que contiene un cargador inalámbrico que funciona por inducción electromagnética. Hasta la fecha, Dell se había caracterizado por ser una marca que dejaba la innovación tecnológica a otros, para fabricar máquinas fiables, de calidad, sencillas y a precio reducido. Hasta ahora, las marcas que se preocupan por la innovación y el diseño, como Apple o Sony, tenían sus propios computadores ultraligeros sin más puertos o cables que los estrictamente necesarios, como el MacBook Air.
En esta ocasión, Dell se ha adelantado a los demás con un computador con un cable menos. Y ha aumentado el precio habitual. El Latitude Z costará cerca de 2.000 dólares, unos 1.374 euros, un importe considerablemente superior a otros productos de esa marca. La estación de carga se vende, además, de forma separada, por 140 euros. La marca Palm presentó en junio pasado su teléfono Palm Pre, que se puede cargar también de manera inalámbrica con una estación Touchstone.
Pensado para el mundo empresarial, el nuevo computador incluye un botón que activa un sistema operativo alternativo a Windows llamado Latitude On, muy básico y de rápido acceso. A través de ese entorno, se puede sólo acceder a Internet, al correo electrónico, a la agenda de contactos y al calendario personal.
