Nueva batalla legal en EEUU entre Samsung y Sharp.
Un tribunal mercantil de Estados Unidos ha accedido a investigar las acusaciones de Samsung respecto a que la japonesa Sharp ha infringido sus patentes para fabricar pantallas de cristal líquido, como las usadas en muchos televisores.
La demanda, ahora en la Comisión Internacional de Comercio, es el último giro de una larga serie de demandas y apelaciones con respecto a la tecnología de pantallas.
Sharp, el cuarto mayor fabricante de LCD del mundo, y el líder del mercado, Samsung Electronics, afrontan una intensa competencia de precios y una débil demanda de televisores más grandes, que tienen mayores márgenes de beneficios.
A mitad de diciembre, Sharp ganó una demanda de patentes de LCD frente a Samsung en Holanda. Ese tribunal ordenó que la filial holandesa de ventas de Samsung interrumpiera las importaciones y las ventas de las pantallas de LCD de la compañía surcoreana y televisores de LCD que usen la tecnología en cuestión, y retirar esos productos del mercado, dijo Sharp.
Sharp ganó otro litigio a mediados de noviembre cuando el tribunal estadounidense dictaminó que Samsung infringía las patentes de Sharp y no debería vender los aparatos que quebrantaban ese fallo en Estados Unidos.
El LCD se usa para las pantallas de televisión y monitores informáticos. Su velocidad de respuesta más rápida es adecuada para mostrar las imágenes en rápido movimiento.
Samsung y Sharp también están inmersas en batallas legales en Japón y Alemania, además de en otros ámbitos en Estados Unidos.
